Hmmm . . .

Looking at my Google News just now, I saw these headlines:

FOXNews: Why some feminists hate Sarah Palin
Wall Street Journal: Why feminists hate Sarah Palin

and I found the dichotomy from the two different sources interesting.

Someday, I'd like to write a blog entry about the whole Sarah Palin deal, but right now I should be doing real work. However, since I just got an email with this link in it, I'll put that in here too.

"Alaska Women Reject Palin" Rally is Huge

Thanks for sharing that link! I've really enjoyed reading the posts at http://womenagainstsarahpalin.blogspot.com/ Basically they are collecting and sharing the responses of women all over the country to Palin. I also love the "Jesus was a community organizer. Pilate was a governor." buttons for their sheer cheek. ;)

I thought the line that said the purpose of the rally was "to make a statement that Sarah Palin does not speak for all Alaska women, or men" was very telling. I have seen that come up in a number of articles and blog posts - they really really want to make sure we know that Palin doesn't represent all women. It doesn't seem like she or McCain have every claimed to do that but yes, we get that.

I kinda understand because I felt that way whenever I heard crap about the glass ceiling from Hillary fans (and yes, any glass ceiling quote from Palin supporters is just as annoying to me). Or even when people talk about "women's rights" or "women's issues" in reference solely to abortion. Is the issue of abortion the only issue I, as a women, care about people!?! (And is it really only a women's rights issues, do not the fathers have some sort of right too? But I'm getting sidetracked)

I think when we reach the point when it isn't assumed that a women speaks for all women or that the only issues women care about are those connected with their reproductive system, we will have really made some ground. And just maybe, having a female VP will help speed that along ;-)

I wonder how many people would show up at a "Illinois Men Reject Obama" rally.
