Sorry, Dudes

Hey, guys. You know I'd really like to write you up a Monday Monarch Moment today, but I am completely wiped out from writing not-fun history. I'll bring you your super-special Henry II monarch moment edition next Monday or, if I get ambitious, sometime this week. I promise it will be awesome.

As partial compensation, here's a story about a cat adopting a squirrel.

Three Miscellaneous Internet Items

1. " . . . Whaaaaaat?"

My home page is Google News, so I browse the ol' headlines whenever I open my browser. Occasionally, I'll see a headline that makes me say " . . . Whaaaaaaat?" Tonight, there were two. Big day for weird news:

Founder of Islamic TV station accused of beheading wife

That's just not good for anybody.

Chimp Shot to Death After Mauling Woman
The chimp's name was "Travis."

2. Four Gregs!

A couple weeks ago, I expressed my concern about the direction of HomestarRunner.com. Today's update, however, was more than satisfactorily funny. It's kind of a Teen Boy Squad!

3. A YouTube video. That involves cats. And also a small child being childlike. It's an internet perfect storm!

My friend Chanda posted this on Facebook, and it is cute.

Try Not to Be Too Distraught . . .

FYI, I'm quitting the internet for the next 2 weeks. I've got too much school to do. As much as I enjoy posting my opinions on dumb things and football, it always takes a fairly large chunk of time for me to do.

I'll be back on roughly the 16th to tell you what I think about the new season of House, the rollercoaster that is college football, and any other topic of grave import that demands my attention.

Until then, here's a picture of Clancy covered in $2 bills.

Things I am Excited about Besides HARRY POTTER!

In an effort to be a smidgen well-rounded (and to prove to you, my readers, that I am), I have compiled a list of things other than HARRY POTTER! about which I am enthusiastic at the moment.

1. The grade of A that I got for the first half of my Latin summer course--and only three more weeks to go! Huzzah!

2. The dozen roses my gentleman caller gave me today. For no particular reason, no less.
(Try not to be too jealous, ladies.)

(And they're way up on that bookshelf so Cat #2 can't get to them/eat them/knock them over for sport. He wants to. He wants to bad.

Look at him, all angry.)

3. My Netflix queue. I just finished season one of The Closer--which, if anyone is curious, is very very good--and so, naturally, next up is The Closer, season two, disc one, on which the first two episodes guest star . . .

. . .

!!!

William Daniels!

Oh man. That is going to be great.

4. College football season!

What? I saw an Athlon college football preview magazine today, meaning that it is totally reasonable for me to being getting pumped. I mean, for heaven's sake, it's only 43 days, 16 hours, and 51 minutes til the first Aggie game!

2007 Kick-Off CountDown

And now, I have a 5: That I was able to post that sweet kickoff countdown! I am, like, a freaking html genius! (If you ignore the pointless grey space. And how hard is that, really? Especially when you notice the sweet modifications I made to the one on the sidebar. I'm so proud of me!)

Something Wonderful Happened This Weekend

We got a couch!

My roommate and I have long wandered in a wilderness of couchlessness, but all that is now behind us. We found a couch at the furniture store two doors down, and it's big, smooshy, comfortable, and ugly--in short, it's perfect.

It has even brought our cats closer together.

My estimate is that this couch will improve my life by approximately 15%.
